Rae Braden is a visual artist living in Yellowknife NWT. Graduating with a fine art diploma from Red Deer College and a degree in fine arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, she continues her artistic career from her cozy backyard studio. She enjoys working in printmaking, drawing and mixed media including digital.
Rae’s work is about exploring her northern surroundings. Geology, ice, bones, birds and botany feature prominently in her pieces – often accompanied by layers of pattern and graphic elements inspired by the landscape of northern Canada. In addition to her home territory, she has explored Ivvavik Park in the Yukon, the Kendal Island Bird Sanctuary in the Mackenzie Delta, Ellesmere Island and King William Island, Nunavut.
